Let me set the scene. As a health practitioner, I know firsthand exactly what mold can do to the body—fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, weight gain, hormone issues, and a range of other not-so-fun symptoms. I’ve helped countless clients combat it with the precision of a surgeon and the compassion of a teddy bear. From detox protocols to gut healing, I’ve crafted regimens that would make even the most resilient mold shudder in fear.
But, as they say, “practice what you preach.” So, I created my successful approach to this specific detox based on my personal journey of being exposed to mold and mycotoxins. I have experienced firsthand what my clients go through when they’re fighting the invisible enemy and the tiny parasites that come along with it. Yes, I said parasites. That’s a whole blog in and of itself!
I started my mold detox program, by figuring out how to starve it out and creating The Strategic Food Plan. I then began strategically popping proper supplementation like I was trying to outpace the entire pharmaceutical industry. I was on the path to mold-free glory! I successfully lost 50lbs, got my mojo and my life back!
…And then it happened.
I walked into my office one chilly morning, ready to kick butt, take names, and cure the world of their moldy woes. I had been gone for 3 weeks on vacation as was ready to get back to it. Anyway, Welcome to 2024, where the universe has a sick sense of humor.
The thing is this was the same office that had been giving me the “silent treatment” for a while. The walls right behind my desk that I share with the bakery next door had a faulty sink—leaking into the sheetrock for months. So those sneaky little spots that look innocent enough but are, in fact, hosting their own invisible ecosystem. I had a mild case of what I thought was just vacation hangover from being cross contaminated from gluten and dairy. My eyes would burn, and by the end of my day I was DONE. Brain fog was back.
But here’s the twist—I didn’t just panic and run for the hills (even though, trust me, I wanted to). I decided to lean into the experience and put petri dishes out to collect samples. I got blood labs done and found that the mold on my blood labs matched that of my office. Science nerd moment paid off.
After all, I couldn’t very well ask my clients to trust me with their moldy problems if I wasn’t walking the walk myself. So, armed with the best mold-fighting knowledge, supplements, an UVLIZER air purifier, and a new-found appreciation for every molecule of fresh air. I decided to shell out the cash and treat myself AGAIN as the ultimate test subject. You’re welcome. Even though I was sitting in mold, my lab numbers were dropping, and my urine samples were very high. This was a good sign! My body was becoming the fighter of the mold! Treatment was for sure working to restore my ability to fight the tiny toxic molecules.
So, how’s it going? Surprisingly well! Turns out, my own detox methods, when applied with the precision of a mad scientist, work wonders. My fatigue has gone down (although I might still want to take a nap in the parking lot on occasion), my brain fog is lifting (I can remember where I put my keys again!), and the joint pain that had been nagging at me has mellowed out. I feel like I’m winning—even if I’m still sitting in a moldy office while doing it.
The property owners were great to work with, remediation has been done no charge. I’m on my own for the cost of all the treatments and tests which is a REAL BUMMER, but it helped me really perfect the technique and find some super amazing tools (in case you need recommendations on your healing path)
It’s a strange, ironic feeling, being both the healer and the patient, but it’s also been incredibly humbling. As a practitioner, I’ve always believed that healing is a personal, dynamic journey. We’re all walking this path together—whether we’re battling mold in an office or fighting fatigue and headaches at home.
Here’s to a mold-free (eventually) 2025—let’s just hope the universe has no more “teachable moments” for me in the office anytime soon!
