Handling Social Gatherings and the Holidays

The holiday season is here! How many of us are actually dreading the whole idea of having a social gathering for the holidays? Going to one or hosting one, the stress is all the same with the current pandemic guidelines that are in effect. It sounds so crazy to have to limit contact with your extended family in your own home! My advice to you here is to use common sense. You can still have social distancing, clean hands, and exercise a common courtesy of not coming if you’ve been sick, or are not feeling well.

Planning Tips

  • Have a discussion with your guests. Since I have family coming over for dinner, everyone has been pre-screened. I’ve spoken to each family member to ensure their safety and mine. I ask them how they’ve been feeling and what they’ve been up to lately. So far so good with my family being safe and ready to enjoy the festivities!
  • Serve food ‘line style’ like a cafeteria. I do this so that way there is no extra germ exposure that has to happen through the food service itself.
  • Make wearing masks fun. If you prefer to have your guests wear masks have some festive ones available for each guest as they come in. You can tie it into place settings and games. Like snowman, reindeer, and Grinch!
Echinacea Premium - Handling Social Gatherings and the Holidays

What’s my health strategy? I believe in keeping the immune system strong, so I use Echinacea Premium daily! All of my family members are getting a bottle for Christmas. Give the gift of health! They will appreciate it so much!

What to avoid? I know that tis the season for sugar, but avoiding overindulgence and staying on track with your healthy lifestyle choices is probably the best strategy!

  • Moderation is key! If cocktails are your thing, have ONE. No one says you need to get shit-faced! Have ONE glass of wine if that’s what’s offered. If it’s dessert, have 1 slice or piece if it’s (for me) gluten-free, dairy-free. Again, common sense.
  • Don’t overeat! Calories count, even when you’re eating great really healthy food! Watch out for the cranberry sauce too! It’s full of sugar unless you make your own as I do.

A sugar-free friendly version of traditional cranberry sauce

Traditional cranberry sauce calls for a ton of sugar. Here’s a healthier spin on a classic Thanksgiving side without the extra high.

I will literally put this on EVERYTHING!

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (12oz) of cranberries
  • 1 Giant Pomegranate (seeded)
  • ½ cup of Honey, maple syrup, or monk or dragon fruit for sweetener
  • ½ cup Water

Directions

  1. Cook your cranberries down in the water and sweetener of your choice. If you are using the monk or dragon fruit sweetener, use 1 cup of water. You can always add more water too if you like extra juicy sauce.
  2. Once you hear the cranberries pop, you know they are done.
  3. Add in pomegranate seeds, and voila!!

I hope these tips help you navigate social gatherings and the holiday season with more ease and peace of mind. Remember, prioritize your safety and the well-being of your loved ones. If you need further guidance or support, don’t hesitate to schedule a session with me. Together, we can make this holiday season a memorable and joyful one. Happy holidays!
