I have a process. I’ve been using this process to cope with the day-to-day of my life for years now. It started off pretty simple and has morphed over the years into an even bigger process that I now use in my sessions with all of my patients. But I want to keep it simple and talk more about some of the beginning basics that helped me in the early days of snapping out of the total chaos my life once was.
I remember I was having a meltdown and a mentor told me to HALT! This stands for “Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired”…. Whoa so profound right!? It made me stop and look at myself at that moment and realize a few things about myself.
HUNGRY: I do absolutely get HANGRY! If I miss lunch, I’m an asshole. Plain and simple. So, I don’t miss lunch. I plan for it and make sure that if I’m traveling or expected to be somewhere, I have carefully thought out my meal. Everyone fares better in the end if I do.
ANGRY: I wasn’t too much for getting angry, but yes, there were times when I had been slighted and needed to stand up for myself (and didn’t). This was the worst kind of anger! The suppressed kind. The kind that smolders and goes straight into resentment. Storing in the liver, only to turn up later as angry liver problems.
LONELY: Okay, so being lonely can really get you into trouble! We tend to make not-so-good choices about who we hang out with and why. Perhaps drinking too much, even drugs? This only leads to blocked energy and the path to what we really want to call in! It’s okay to sit with yourself – this was a hard one for me! But, once I decided what I really wanted, and accepted nothing less, it all became perfect and blissful. A cleanse is HIGHLY recommended during this phase of growth.
TIRED: Yup, going 100 mph all the time and not taking time to rest was something that I also struggled with back in the day. Just because we can see all the things that need to be done doesn’t mean that we have to do them all now. It’s okay to understand your limitations and place a realistic goal on your timeline with the things you want to accomplish. We all must learn to say no sometime! This surrender is absolute bliss! Tough for us type-A control freaks, but trust me once you exercise surrender, it gets easier!
Now HALT is just one of the very basic beginnings for a Daily Tool’s Checklist, but it should give you an idea of where I’m going with this. My now more advanced Daily Tools Checklist is way cooler and goes even deeper into the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, energetic, and psychic bodies. You too can rock your day like a boss and call out whatever pops up that tries to ruin your bliss. Want to learn how and be supported too? Book your session and let’s get started! I’m here to support you during this transition into your best self!
